Growing up, Jamie had what many would call a normal life. A normal childhood. Loving parents, good friends, plenty to do. A boy that didn't really have to worry about superheroes or supervillains, a boy that only had to worry about hanging out with his friends, doing his school work and getting his homework in on time. This all continued, like one would expect, up until his sixteenth birthday.A few days later, Jamie was pulled away from his family. Government officials, or at least that's what he'd been told, or maybe what he assumed, just the cries of his family as he was loaded into the back of an unmarked vehicle and taken away, across the country, soon finding himself in a secret facility.Leaving behind everything he had ever known. His school, his home, his friends, his family. A family that was quickly made to 'disappear' to eliminate any evidence or backlash for Jamie's disappearance.Superheroes. Supervillians. There was too many of them. A plague on modern day society, many believed. There needed to be something, or someone, in place to deal with them should they get out of line. And, well, the authorities deemed Jamie as good of a candidate as anyone else. Against his will, experimentation, manipulation, modifications, untested experimental formulas, pain, pain, pain. For two years of his life, that was all he knew.Anger. Pain. Confusion. Terror.A clear loss of all hope.And in the end, they didn't get what they wanted from Jamie.What they wanted was a superpowered individual that could rival some of the world's biggest heroes and biggest villains. Someone with those powers that was under their control. What they got instead, however, was an angry young man who had missed out on life, someone with sub-par powers and someone with a mix of newfound anger and hatred and newfound authority problems.Jamie Navarro was deemed a failure.Cast out into the world, not expected to get very far.However, not one to meet expectations, Jamie survived. Against all odds.
Now, at twenty-one, Jamie isn't the sort of man he could have been if he had continued to live out his teenage years like anyone else should have been able to.Jamie's angry, holds a lot of resentment, a lot of fury. And whilst he might have nowhere near the same level of powers as others with superpowers, he often has the fury and the ferocity to overcome such challenges. He's what some would describe as an anti-hero, now using his powers as an outlet for his anger and to try and make peace with himself via vigilantism under the alias 'Noctua'. He wants to do good but has methods that don't align to what one would expect from your 'typical' hero. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty, to get his hands bloody. He's not afraid to resort to torture to get information he needs, nor is he afraid to put someone down with a bullet between the eyes.But most don't see that side of him.Most people see a version of Jamie that is, at least partially, just a wall. A version of himself that Jamie wants people to see. Someone that's perhaps got some anger-related problems but someone who is, overall, a decent enough guy who would quite easily drop anything and everything to help a close friend or even an animal.The rarest side of Jamie, however, is his true self. Underneath the act, underneath the anger, underneath Noctua. The emotionally fragile man who has lost so much. The fiercely loyal individual who would absolutely resort to murder just to protect a loved one. The secret romantic who would absolutely treat a guy like royalty.The guy who feels unworthy.Unworthy of friends, unworthy of love, unworthy of a place in the world.
